The Polish Saturday School in New Haven has been serving the local Polish-American community for over 30 years.

We are a non-profit organisation run by volunteers and supported by parents, teachers, and the broader Polish community in Connecticut.

Our mission is to help children grow up bilingual, connected to their roots, and proud of their heritage.

We help kids learn language, traditions and culture of our Poland in a fun and friendly environment.
Our lessons take place on Saturday mornings in three groups: Grades 0-3, Grades 4-5, Grades 7-8.

The Polish Saturday School was founded by Rev. Jan Jaćmierski, C.M., in September 1972.

The school's objective was to teach the Polish language and spread Polish culture through the instruction of Polish history, literature, art, music, and folk dances.

The establishment of the Polish Saturday School generated great interest among the Polish-American community, as evidenced by more than fifty children enrolled for the first school year.

The beginnings, as is usually the case, were difficult for known reasons, the dominant one probably being a lack of funds. However, in a short time, through the energetic work of a committee composed of willing and capable parents, these difficulties were overcome.

The school's activities found great support among the priests working at St. Stanislaus Parish, the parishioners, and those to whom Polish culture and language were always close to the heart.

In September 1975, the teaching at the school was taken over by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, who conduct classes every Saturday to enable children from both the parish school and public schools to participate in these lessons.

In its short history, the Polish Saturday School has taken part in celebrations of a national and artistic character, both within the parish and beyond. Examples include the May 3rd Constitution Day celebration, welcoming the "Śląsk" Song and Dance Ensemble arriving from Poland, the annually staged Nativity Plays (Jasełka), and participation in the Pulaski Parade in Hartford, Connecticut. It also took part in a national showcase on the occasion of the United States Bicentennial as part of United Nations Days in North Haven, Connecticut.

The Saturday School can also boast performances on radio and television broadcasts in the New Haven area.
